The Catholic Committee on Boy Scouting oversees the religious emblem program and related Catholic spiritual activities for Catholic boys and young men in Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout troops, and Venture crews in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. The program is provided by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. In a particular way, the committee liaisons with those units chartered by Catholic parishes, schools, and organizations.
Relgious Emblem Program includs the awards Guardian Angel, Light of Christ, Parvuli Dei, Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII, and Pillars of Faith. Units may earn the Pope Paul VI Award, and adults may receive the Cathedral Award and the St. George Award for service to scouting and youth ministry.
In addition to the religious emblem program, the committee sponsors an annual Catholic Boy Scout Retreat, a Good Friday pilgrimage hike, and a Cub Scout Day of Reflection.
An annual Catholic Scouting Awards Ceremony at St. Loius Cathedral is presented jointly with the Catholic Committee on Girl Scouting.
