Leadership Celebration Nominations Due
All parish youth ministers should have received nomination packets in February for the annual Archdiocesan Youth Leadership Celebration. This includes nomination forms for Outstanding Parish Youth, Adult Service Awards, and the St. Timothy Award. All nominations are due by 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 13, 2014.
This deadline is particularly enforced for St. Timothy Award nomination packets. Please note that a senior you may be nominating for the St. Timothy Award must have adequate time to work on essays and gather recommendation letters. We continue to have problems with youth ministers giving the young person the packet just days before the deadline and then asking our office for an extension. We are unable to grant extensions on the March 13th deadline.
We hope that, at a minimum, all youth ministers will have teens being recognized as Outstanding Parish Youth. The ceremony will take place on April 27, 2014, at St. Louis Cathedral. If you have any questions, please contact John or Cecilia at the office.
Abbey Youth Fest
Abbey Youth Fest will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at St. Joseph Abbey & Seminary College. Online registration closes March 7, although walk-up registration is permitted but without pre-ordered lunch or T-shirts. AYF is always a blessed gathering of the young Church in our region of the south. Visit www.abbeyyouthfest.org
Archdiocesan Youth & Young Adult Revival
The revival, co-sponsored by the Office of Black Catholic Ministries and the CYO Office, is a wonderful opportunity for all to experience worship in the Black Catholic tradition in our local Church. Joshua Johnson, transitional deacon for the Diocese of Baton Rouge will be the speaker and the Young Voices of Praise from St. Raymond-St. Leo will lead our musical praise. Mark your calendar for Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 3-5pm at St. Mary of the Angels. See the attached flyer for more information and plan to bring a youth delegation from your parish!
